According to a new study published by Bloomberg, a recent study demonstrated that certain cannabis extracts may help in preventing certain Covid-19 symptoms and may even reduce lung damage post-Covid-19. 

The researchers at the University of Lethbridge have advanced their studies to clinical trials after the results demonstrated that certain cannabis strains might help prevent Covid-19 patients from experiencing acute respiratory distress (ARDS) caused by Covid-19. Additionally, at the University of Michigan, the professor of pharmacology and toxicology, Norbert Kaminski has been working closely with GBSciences Inc., an American biopharmaceutical company, to develop a drug that may prevent lungs from inflammation post contracting the COVID-19 disease. This health condition can lead to difficulty in breathing or even death due to suffocation.

CBD is known for its ability to improve oxygen levels and reduce inflammation, but how does it work? The studies carried out demonstrated that CBD has the potential to normalise the levels of a peptide known as the apelin receptor which is responsible for the reduction of inflammation during a Covid-19 infection where the levels of the peptide are low.

Cannabis has a strong potential in reducing inflammation and scarring in patients who have contracted the disease. CBD and THC are the main compounds found in the cannabis plant and they both offer an alternative and holistic approach in treating anxiety and pain for many consumers.
